IHM Inspection & IHM Certificate
Before IHM Certificate is issued
IHM Part I Inspection
IMO Hong Kong Convention, EU Ship Recycling Regulation and some of Flag states require commercial ship over 500GT to have IHM Part I and IHM Certificate (or Statement of Compliance) onboard.
IHM Inspection needs to be conducted to develop IHM Part I and to apply IHM Certificates to Recognized Organization.

The initial IHM is developed based on the vessel condition at the time when onboard IHM Inspection was conducted. Therefore, The inventory of hazardous materials shall be properly maintained and updated throughout the operational life of the ship, reflecting new installations or removals of equipment or coating system containing any hazardous materials.

IHM Part II, III Inspection
Development of IHM Part II, III by IHM expert company and its approval by Recognized Organization is required before ship going for recycling.
During recycling of ship, owner is recommended to set up provisions to supervise that Recycling facilities is scrapping ship in a way of protecting environment and safety of workers and also complying with IHM requirements.
